Android 15 Improves Battery Life for Galaxy Devices
The latest version of Android, Android 15, also known as One UI 7, was unveiled at the Google I/O 2024 event. One of the major improvements that come with this new version is the enhancement of battery life in standby mode for Galaxy phones and tablets. Google has revealed that devices running Android 15 can see an increase in battery life by up to 3 hours due to improvements in Doze Mode.
Doze Mode, which was introduced with Android 6.0, is a feature that allows devices to run background tasks more efficiently when in standby mode for an extended period. With Android 15, Google has improved the speed at which devices switch to Doze Mode by 50%. This means that devices running Android 15 will enter Doze Mode faster than those running the previous version of Android, resulting in significant battery life improvements.
Samsung has already begun the internal beta development of One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24, with plans to release the stable update in Q4 of 2024. The Galaxy S24 will be the first device to receive the One UI 7.0 update, bringing the battery life improvements of Android 15 to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
One UI Watch 6.0 Enhances Battery Life for Galaxy Watches
In addition to improvements for Galaxy phones and tablets, Google has also made enhancements to battery life for Wear OS smartwatches with the unveiling of Wear OS 5 at the Google I/O 2024 event. Smartwatches running Wear OS 5 can now consume up to 20% less power during activities like running marathons.
This improvement was achieved by reducing the time it takes for the smartwatch’s main application processor to go back to sleep after being woken up. By allowing the co-processor to take over faster for background tasks, such as collecting data from sensors, the smartwatch becomes more power-efficient, resulting in increased battery life.
The battery life improvements introduced with Wear OS 5 will come to Galaxy Watches with the One UI Watch 6.0 update later this year, providing users with longer-lasting battery performance for their smartwatches.
Galaxy Devices Set to Receive Battery Boost with Android 15 and One UI 7.0
Samsung Galaxy users can look forward to improved battery life on their devices with the upcoming releases of Android 15 and One UI 7.0. The latest version of Android brings enhancements to Doze Mode, allowing devices to enter a power-saving state faster and resulting in up to 3 hours of additional battery life.
With the internal beta development of One UI 7.0 already underway for the Galaxy S24, Samsung is gearing up to roll out the stable update in Q4 of 2024. This update will bring the battery life improvements of Android 15 to Galaxy smartphones and tablets, providing users with a more efficient and longer-lasting battery performance. Additionally, Galaxy Watches will also see enhancements to battery life with the upcoming release of One UI Watch 6.0, ensuring that users can enjoy extended usage time on their smartwatches.
